DAM United manages the multimedia flood for Kulturprojekte Berlin with the fylr DAM system
Kulturprojekte Berlin planned and realized the major event around the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Peaceful Revolution, which attracted more than 500,000 visitors from all over the world. One of the highlights was a four-kilometer-long open-air installation that displayed posters and historical banners designed by thousands of Berliners. The majority of the posters were made available free of charge to all visitors as part of an extensive book publication and all submissions were shown on media installations along the route. In order to manage the posters and other digital assets relating to the event as well as the collaboration with around 70 participants and content partners more efficiently, Kulturprojekte Berlin entrusted DAM United with the provision of a suitable multimedia solution in advance.
From zero to professional digital asset management in just two months
With the fylr DAM system from Programmfabrik, the DAM experts recommended and implemented a DAM solution that met the requirements. The system, the processes and the team were ready to go in just a few weeks. A suitable metadata and rights model was developed, the processes optimized and the team trained in the administration and use of fylr. Technically, fylr is hosted in a GDPR-compliant server cluster at the European cloud partner OVH.
The customer benefits from professional management and use of digital assets across different departments and print and digital projects – as well as greater transparency, less stress and significant time savings throughout the project. The intuitive fylr DAM system is easy to use even for inexperienced users and always works reliably, even under heavy load.
DAMmetadata for fylr automatically writes metadata to the DAM
To further increase efficiency when working with fylr and to maintain metadata correctly, the Kulturprojekte Berlin team uses the DAMmetadata plugin developed by DAM United for fylr. The plugin writes relevant metadata to the fylr DAM in a rule-based and automated manner when saving assets. For example, if photos originate from a specific photographer, then the corresponding copyright notices are automatically saved in the fylr metadata. Another example: If certain metadata fields are filled, a “master data added” tag is set. This in turn leads to changes to the permissions and makes the asset available to another user group. The possible applications are diverse and have led to enormous time savings in the course of the project.
