Challenge - Update and extension of the CELUM DAM
With the support of DAM United, GELSENWASSER had been successfully using the CELUM TEAM Edition as DAM for many years. In 2018, an update to CELUM 5 was necessary, which resulted in a complete relaunch of the digital asset management. The experts at DAM United assisted their long-standing client with a smooth upgrade and the expansion of the CELUM DAM with efficiency-enhancing modules.
Solution - Development of a customised image management
GELSENWASSER uses an internal asset portal for employees and an external one as a press portal. After an initial workshop, DAM United designed the restructuring of the system and the connected portals with folders, keywords, metadata, etc., adjusted the metadata and field values, introduced new asset types and permissions, and much more.
In the course of this, the efficiency of the digital asset management was improved with “Simplify your DAM” solutions:
The Asset Uploader enables GELSENWASSER to easily and yet securely upload assets into the CELUM DAM and to guarantee a cleanly maintained asset inventory. Previously, only a few licensed editors were able to upload data to CELUM, which had to be sent to them in a cumbersome way by e-mail. Now, any other person can also upload data into the system, e.g. employees who visit construction sites, facilities, etc. and document them. Through a simplified workflow, images can be easily assigned to locations, projects, events, etc.
DAM Access, a modern, responsive HTML5 interface for searching and displaying assets, was implemented to replace the no longer current CELUM Webgate. The solution enables GELSENWASSER to search, display and use assets and their organisational structures detached from the CELUM server easily from anywhere with any device. Data is accessed according to a “rating” – i.e. only images that have 3 to 5 stars are played out via DAM Access.
Metadata Editor: Until now, metadata could only be maintained directly in CELUM DAM by the few authorised editors. With the Simplify solution, metadata can now be managed and updated by users outside of the system – easily.
